Bo's Sketch Dump

Description

Sketch dump time!

Starting from the upper left:

row 1
1.  One of my various OCs, leaning forward and grumbling.  The shading turned out interesting with this one because I was practicing a glazing technique that uses colored values instead of black and white.  I decided in the end to mostly abandon this technique, because this method somewhat limits you. But it does yield some cool results provided you don't accidentally desaturate your picture by choosing the wrong colors.  However, if you are specifically looking to do a scene with just warm or cool colors, it works very well.
2.  Another of my OCs, reacting to the grumblings of the first.  With this sketch I began to put some things together regarding things like highlighting jaws.  I'm partial to this sketch.
3.  The same OC as the first OC.  I'm not totally sure what I was thinking when I did this.  I was kind of in a weird mood when I scribbled that out, but I was thinking about how much this particular character screams and shouts.
4.  Same OC as the first.  I wanted to practice drawing somebody looking over their shoulder.  It turned out interesting, at least.  If you look you can see the same glazing technique I did, by loosely figuring out the values in red and then glazing on top with a regular multiply layer.
5.  Yet another OC!  I like this one because this character looks kinda evil, but in reality she is very airy, bubbly, and kind.
6.  Another OC.  I was really experimenting with my painting style here.
7.  Rough sketch of some comic panels.  I have no intention of using this.  Just farting around with overall design ideas for a scene.
8.  Again, experimenting with my painting style.  No character in particular, but I was attempting a more traditional glazing style, here, where you use a color layer over a black and white layer.

row 2
1.  This is the same character as the one getting grumbled at in row 1.  I don't have too much to say about this, except I decided to challenge myself by drawing a happy expression.
2.  This is one of my favorites. Another OC. I almost posted it by itself, to be honest, and I still might.  This sketch just turned out nicely.  I especially like it because this character is so stoic, normally.
3.  I was practicing using a thicker outline on this drawing of the lady in the headdress.  I really hated it when I tried painting it, so I decided not to finish.
4.  A random, scribbly sketch.
5.  These are two of my OCs in this one.  This was during an art block period, and I thought about doing things in a slightly different style but got bored with it.

row 3
1.  This is a more recent sketch I did the other day.  It's also after some more focused, daily study of different body regions.  Recently I learned that one of the most important things to study with figure drawing is force dynamics, and I attempted to incorporate that into this sketch.  I intend to eventually blow this up and do something with it, but not sure what.
2.  Same character as the one shouting "WTF" in the row above.  I really liked how this sketch turned out.  He is one of my favorite characters.  Actually, this is him, here.  Study 2 by Bo-Po-Mo-Fo
3.  This is a thumbnail of a painting I am thinking of doing for a series on mental illness.  I definitely plan to blow this one up and finish it at some point.

Last group
1.  This one I was just practicing with my painting technique.  Trying to see if I could learn something new, if anything.
2.  Same "WTF" shouting OC.  I had actually forgotten all about this incomplete portrait of him.
3.  Another OC of mine with a fish.
4.  Snarf, biotch!  This is actually a finished painting, and about when I was beginning to fumble my way out of an art block.  I never posted him because I figure there aren't too many fans of Thundercats out there.
5.  Midna from LoZ.  I never finished this painting, but I'd like to at some point.
